Chris and I got on the water around 2:30pm. Our first goal was to find a bite in out of the wind. Well we started out on a point with cranks that had been pretty productive in the past, but the wind was just too bad in that area to even throw cranks. We moved on around into some timber area that was somewhat out of the wind and we still couldn’t find a bite. With no other choice, we moved on to the rip rap area. The wind was still an issue on the rip rap but manageable. We picked up several nice fish over there but Chris wanted to see if we could find a cove with less wind to fish, so we moved on over to the north side of the lake in the three fingers area. As we approached Johnny’s’ cove we saw a boater that appeared to be waiting on some schoolies to surface. Sure enough they did. There were a couple of schools out there doing their thing and yes we did do the waiting game for a little while, but the action was way to slow so we moved on to fish some where else. Well that some where else was a flop, so we went back to the rip rap area and stayed on it the rest of the day. Chris stayed in the lead on catching fish from the get go. I got close to catching up a couple of times, but over all I believe he won the pissing contest. We end up with 25 to 30 fish total between the two of us and I think he was still ahead by two when we packed up and went home. All of our fish were either caught on a top water bait or plastic. We could not find a spinner or crank bait bite at all.
I took a lot of pictures this time so I could post a few. The photo where Chris is holding the two fish is the only double hook up we had during this trip. Those two fish were also in the four to five pound range.
