I had a couple guide trips this past week... everyone loves schoolies...
Any way, day 1 we caught over 80 fish most on flukes because my client kept losing my hard baits. So I started rigging him up with flukes. we went through a dozen or so bags and had a great time...
Day 2, I took 2 guys and I didn't fish. Again, they hammered schoolies...
Here's the thing... about 2 hrs into it, I'm out of flukes, I'm going through every box I have and for some reason I found 4 bags of salt water flukes. (I probably bought em about 10 years ago when I didn't know what the hell I was buying...lol)... Watermelon with red and chart tails/White with the same color tails...
They didn't know the the diff but I did and didn't say anything just kept my fingers crossed........
Bingo!!! they started cathing MORE fish AND those flukes lasted longer than the regular old Zoom flukes!!! (at least 10 years old)
So, it's either true that schoolies will eat ANYTHING, or there's something to this salt thing?!?!?!?
Either way, they were more durable and the $30 investment 10 years ago finally paid off...
See ya'll on the lake............ except Somerville!!! They need to drain that lake and make it a dump site!!!

Tough year on Sville but I give up on all the lakes, tanks, ponds and mud holes this year. And any where else Amo kicks my a$$ and the Bass Chump chicken is!

You know it's tough when 8 lbs wins on Somerville, but I'll take it...Hope wanted to go out on Sunday evening. So, I headed back out there. It was windy, but we actually got on a decent bite about 7:30. Mostly dinks, but we did boat 3 keepers. We're going to have to make it to Bastrop for some of that schoolie action.
