Well since I'm not around here hopefully this isn't considered a stupid question. I hear a lot about the use of shad baits in Texas for bass, and was wondering exactly which of the following, or others, or all are stereotypically productive in the lakes down here for minnow type baits (jerks, cranks, lipless, etc.):
Black/Silver Blue/Silver Black/Brown
I think the last is more of a shiner color (pretty productive up by me really as we have a lot of mud minnows), but especially for soft plastic jerks and cranks, where on the color spectrum to you guys start when fishing?

Any bait with silver, chrome, or white as the main color would mimic shad. I throw them all... generally throw white, silver, or firetiger for a crankbait. I'll add chrome and crawfish colors for lipless cranks. I don't use a jerkbait very often and only throw chrome/orange or silver/blue...but then again what do I know...Dowdy took me to school on Bastrop throwing another color.
