As boredom grew stronger yesterday I decided to go do a little fishing at Fayette with my 8 year old daughter. We got on the water around noon and there were a lot of boats on the water at that time. I tried several spots that I thought would be good for my daughter to catch a few fish, but there was nothing there during this time of the day. So I moved on over to the rip rap area and I covered a lot of water quick with a top water bait. I caught a little over a dozen fish ranging from 2 to 4 lbs. But like always, my 8 yr. old had given up on fishing with in the first 30 minutes and said the fish were just not hungry.
Also saw several boats fishing deep water and catching a few. Saw another boat that was fishing nothing but inside the reeds. They claim there was a good bite in there during the morning hours but it had come to an end.
Over all, it turned out to be very pleasant day spent with my daughter. Maybe as she gets a little older, her patients and interest towards fishing will increase. Until then, Ill be sure to keep the trips with her short and I’ll also keep plenty of drinks and food on board to keep her occupied.

Sounds like a good time.Nothing like time outdoors with the kids. When my son was younger I would take him white bassin-fun times. Now that he's 14 if he doesn't catch one every 15 minutes or he slips into the iPod/text messaging zone.At least I can still get him out there every now and then.
