Do you guys ever fish the shorelines of Lake Bastrop? I did see the lake briefly when I came to the weigh in, but are they generally on the shallower or deeper side of things? Is there timber, vegetation, rocks, steep dropoffs? Any info would be great!

I probably beat the banks more than I should...I haven't been out there since our last tournament, but I would expect the fish to be shallower. You will probably even find some big mamas on beds. The lake has timber and vegetation. The changes in depth are mostly subtle but are often the key to finding fish. There are several kinds of vegetation. The two most common are hydrilla and eel grass/tape grass. Hydrilla is more productive for me. I don't know if it is because it is easier to fish on if it just holds more fish. Rip a lipless crankbait through the grass. You will often catch fish on the pause or as the bait ticks the top of the grass. Try throwing a shakey head worm, a Carolina rig, Texas Rig, or a crankbait along the edge of the vegetation. I prefer the shakey head. Hope this helps.
